A whale shark or leopard shark was seen in the water of the bay of Jakarta on Sunday (5/3/2017). This was recorded by one of the crew of Kargo 08 while sailing to Cipir Island. This was told by the Chief Environmental Official Thousand Islands District Yusen Hardiman. He said that the position of the rare event was between the H Island and Muara Kamal. According to Yusen, his subordinates recorded the appearance of the whale shark on Sunday morning at around 9 a.m. He said that the appearance of the whale shark is very rare. He also emphasized that although it is large, the whale shark is not a wild animal because it feeds on plankton. The crew on board have been ordered not to harm the animal.
